RESOLVE POST TRAUMATIC STRESS
Welcome and thank you so much for having the courage to visit us. Believe me, we all of us here at Excellent Rapport appreciate that it can take real courage to consider visiting a Therapy site and the possibility of Working with a Therapist. So thank you again for your courage. |

I am so sorry that you, or if you are visiting us on behalf of someone else, that someone close to you have suffered a Trauma.
Whatever that Trauma may have been – it will have been grim.
The word Trauma means ‘to wound’
Therefore there is one thing I do know about you – (or someone on whose behalf you may be visiting us for) you, or someone you know, has been ‘wounded’ – psychologically, emotionally, spiritually perhaps, and maybe also physically.
Having said all this – I believe that all of us, absolutely all of us will have experienced a Trauma. The depth of that Trauma is experienced totally and utterly uniquely and individually by each and every one of us.
What do I mean by this? Well, for example I remember a client of mine who came to work with me to resolve a Phobia. Her Trauma age two and a half years old had been that her mum had slammed a door in her face. (I must add that her mum had done this unwittingly). This little girl, bless her, was so Traumatised by a door slammed in her face, that the phobia had developed. You will be pleased to know that this lady no longer has her phobia.
Post Traumatic Stress for you is likely to be intermittent throughout your day; by this I mean that it is unlikely you are experiencing stress for 24 hours a day? – Though I promise you I appreciate it may feel to you that you are feeling continuously stressed.
The stress response in you is likely to be triggered, or anchored into something that happens in your environment which then sets off an internal thought process? So, it is possible that the focus of control over your state in external to you? You may be totally calm, or happy, relaxed or content one moment – and then something in your environment triggers your stressed state? You may know what the triggers are?
And you may have attempted to adapt your life style so that you do not have to experience these triggers. For example you may feel that going to work, shopping, driving, travelling are triggers to your stress state, and so you have adapted your life, given up work, shopping, driving or travelling such that you hardly ever have to go outside!
You may not have a clue as to what it is that triggers you into a stressed state, or that you are anchored to. (An Anchor, in simple terms, is anything which alters your state).
A young woman came to Work with me suffering with Post Traumatic Stress. She did not have a clue as to what triggered her into a stressed state. As we Worked together we discovered that light shining off polished steele – like a kettle was the trigger. That kind of flash of light off polished steel was a consciously forgotten part of her Traumatic memory.
So what do I do about these triggers or anchors?
In simple terms I collapse the anchors. “Light flashing on polished steel” - will no longer change a comfortable state to a stressed state.
I then teach you the ability to change your state – whenever you choose – whenever it is appropriate – for you.
The ability to choose and change your state is one of the most useful and valuable tools to have. You will no longer be a victim of past events, you will be able to move control – over your state - from outside of you – to inside you.

Your ASSESSMENT CONSULTATION will be booked for you at a time and date that is convenient for you and will last for approximately one hour. This session is Free – and can be done by phone, SKYPE, or face to face at my consulting rooms in Keswick, Cumbria, in the English Lake District. If travelling to Keswick for a weekly session is unwieldy for you I can often conduct Therapy Sessions by phone. However face to face Work, though not always essential, can often be much better, in that for example, by phone you may tell me that you are comfortable and relaxed, and face to face I can observe from you breathing, heart rate and so on that in fact you are uncomfortable.
Also go to Therapeutic Breaks in The Heart of the English Lake district for information on our accommodation – which is a sweet cosy cottage, which sleep four people right on the banks of the beautiful River Greta.
Many clients who have worked with me have often said: “I have several of the symptoms on your list – where do I begin?” during your ASSESSMENT CONSULTATION I will help you to discover where you need to begin, and often several symptoms or problems will be resolved and healed during the course of therapy.
Whatever your problem I can help!
