Resolve Panic Attacks
Bad things happen to all of us.
Sometimes we have to live with the consequences of those bad
things.And sometimes the consequences of bad things which have
happened in the past are useful, for example you may realise that
you have learnt to be more resourceful, you may have created
different inner strengths, you may be more pliant, understanding or
compassionate with others.
Yet, despite your inner strengths and resourcefulness you suffer the
terrible and debilating symptoms of anxiety and panic. These
symptoms often seem irrational. tremendous difficulty breathing,
rapid heartbeat, a sense of constriction, feelings of danger,
feelings of loss of control, sweating, choking, pain, shaking,
numbness, nausea. Read what Annette has to say on our Testimonial
Page. Annette could hardly think about doing anything in her life
without being overwhelmed by Panic.
What I want to say to you is that although bad things have happened
in the past they need not haunt us they need not haunt you.
The power that the bad happenings have over us in the present to
make us feel anxious, attacked by panic is resultant from the way we
think about them, how we remember them and what we
believe about them.
Working with you to Resolve Panic Attacks, I do not have to know
what the bad happenings were, which may seem strange to you. But,
most people including myself when Ive been to my therapist
are really not up for talking over and through the bad happenings.
This makes perfect sense it was bad at the time so what is the
point is going over and over it all again!
What I do need to do in my work with you is discover how
you create your thoughts and your beliefs about the past bad
happenings and once I know how you are doing that I enable you
to change your thoughts and your beliefs in a way that is totally
unique and appropriate for you.
You may want to say to me right now that you never think about the
past that the Panic is entirely about events or situations in the
present. You may want to tell me it is driving, flying in planes,
shopping in crowds and so on and so on that cause you to Panic and
that your Panic has nothing whatsoever to do with bad happenings
from the past. This could very well be true. So I then enable you
to discover how you are thinking and what you are believing about
driving, flying in planes or shopping in crowds and so on.
You may also want to say to me I know exactly what I think and
believe about driving, flying in planes, being in crowds its
dangerous I could die! And the ultimate thoughts and beliefs which
drive us into a Panic State are very often about danger and
possible death. So, I assist you to discover where these kind of
thoughts and beliefs have come from and I assist you to change the
thoughts and beliefs which are not supporting you and your life.

or face to face at our consulting rooms in Keswick, Cumbria, in the
English Lake District. If travelling to Keswick for a weekly session
is unwieldy for you I can often conduct Therapy Sessions by phone.
However face to face Work, though not always essential, can often be
much better, in that for example, by phone you may tell me that you
are comfortable and relaxed, and face to face I can observe from your
breathing, heart rate and so on that in fact you are uncomfortable.
